First baptist church plan for Restarting

As our state begins the journey of reopening, we have decided that the time for restarting in-person worship at First Baptist Church is Sunday, May 17. This decision has been made with a lot of prayer and preparation. Below is a description of the guidelines we have laid out as a church for individuals and families to prayerfully consider following as we come back together to worship in person. We understand that all individuals and households must make the decision about when is the best time for them to return, and we look forward to seeing everyone as they feel ready to rejoin us in person. We ask that everyone who comes to service do so with a spirit of understanding and compassion towards others and their individual and family decisions.

Safety Health protocols

Below are the Safety Health Protocols we are asking the church to follow as they make the decision within their household when to return to in person worship services.

  • Entrances

The East and West Entrances will open for all church members and guests beginning at 9:45am on Sunday morning for our 10:15am worship service.

  • Greeters

Greeters will have the doors propped open and bulletins will be available on a table inside of the entrance for members and guests to pick up as they come in.

  • Giving

A no contact giving box or plate will be made available to receive tithes and offerings.

  • Social-Distancing

Practice social-distancing by sitting only with your household and by sitting at least 6-feet (or space for 2 people) away from another household. Every other row in the sanctuary will also be blocked off to help keep proper distance from each other.

  • Over-Flow Seating

Overflow seating is available in the Gym where the service will be Live-streamed if the Sanctuary seating fills up.

  • Sanitation

Wash or sanitize your hands upon entering and after any interaction with others.

  • Personal Touch

Please refrain from hugging or shaking hands with those outside of your household.

  • No Small Groups or Nursery

There will be no Nursery, Sunday School, or donuts and coffee for the time being. Feel free to bring children with you - children's bulletins will be available at the East and West Entrances for them to pick up on their way in. However, Children's Activity Packets will be unavailable for the time being.

  • At Risk?

If you are in one of the "At-Risk" categories for COVID-19, please consider staying home and continued to worship with us online.

  • Not Feeling Well?

If you are feeling unwell or have been in close contact with a person who has been lab confirmed or is awaiting lab results of a COVID-19 test, please stay home and participate in our online service.
