First Steps Preschool

A Teaching Ministry Of FBCMW

Psalm 127:3 Says, “Children are a gift from the Lord.”  What a wonderful gift they are! Our program allows children age 2 months to 5 years the opportunity to explore the world around them through developmentally appropriate activities and loving care from exceptional teachers.  First Steps Preschool is designed to meet the needs of the total child.  This will include activities that help the child grow emotionally, mentally, physically, socially & spiritually.

Registration is now open.

Click HERE to register online or come into the church office for a paper copy.

Please contact the church office for more information about registering your child(ren).

EMotionally, Mentally, Physically,

Socially, & Spiritually

Emotionally, a child will learn to adjust to a time away from mom and develop a love and trust for his/her teachers.  Helping a child to discover and explore the world around him/her will help him grow mentally.  Basics, such as colors, shapes, numbers and alphabet, will be introduced in a way that makes learning engaging and fun.  Physically, First Steps Preschool provides outside play, music with movement, and manipulative toys to help a child develop a healthy body as well as fine and gross motor skills.  As preschoolers play and interact with one another, your child will make friends and enhance their own social development.  Spiritually, the child will hear Christian teachers share Bible thoughts, stories, songs and prayers that help them learn of God, Jesus and the Bible.

Hours of Operation

First Steps Preschool is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.  Our school year begins the Tuesday after Labor Day and ends in mid-May. We follow MWISD major holiday breaks as well as inclement weather closings/delays.

Tuition, Fees, & Payments

Each year, there is a $35 registration fee to hold your child's spot in the program. This fee is due upon acceptance of the registration form. Each semester there is a supply fee to help cover items such as snacks, craft supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. For the Fall Semester (September-December), the fee is $50. For the Spring Semester (January-May) the fee is $40. This is due before or on the first day of class for that semester.

Tuition is $190 per child per month - we realize there are some months with more or fewer days, but this tuition rate is calculated by adding up the total number of days and dividing it equally among the months.

For two children, the monthly tuition is $375, and for three children the monthly tuition is $475.

Tuition is due on or before the first class day of each month.

What to Bring

Each child will need to bring a bag/backpack with a change of clothing (in case of restroom accidents or spills) and diapers if needed, a lunch, and a cup with a lid to be refilled with water as needed throughout the day. Snacks are provided each day.

What will my

child do all day?

Each class has a daily routine that includes learning time, free play,  music & movement time, arts and crafts, snack time and lunch, recess (outdoor or indoor depending on the weather), and rest time.

Curriculum

First Steps Preschool teaches from the First Look early childhood curriculum. This curriculum focuses on research driven learning, parent connection, high quality standards, inspired environments, and a whole-child approach to learning. We also have Chapel every week on Tuesday morning at 9:30. During chapel we sing kid-friendly worship songs, hear a Bible story, and learn about a different character virtue that will help us be more like Jesus from the We Choose Virtues curriculum.

Parent Communication

We believe that good communication between school and home is vital to each family’s experience at First Steps. Teachers and parents can communicate easily through the Brightwheel app at any time. Teachers also use Brightwheel to send daily updates and pictures to parents during school. We also use our First Steps Facebook page to relay information about school goings-on and important things for parents to know.

Special Events

At First Steps, we strive to make the preschool years a fun and meaningful time for our children and their families. Throughout the year, we hold a variety of special events including (but not limited to) field trips for our 3, 4, and 5 year olds, holiday celebrations (such as Pancakes with Santa, Halloween Costume Carnival, Thanksgiving Family Feast, FSP Easter Celebration, etc.), special breakfasts for moms and dads, and various other theme days.
