Fall 2023 Connect groups
Connect Groups are a time for us to gather together on Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM.
Below are three groups beginning September 6th. These are open groups that you can join at any time.
Defending Your Faith: An Introduction to Apologetics
God calls us to be "prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks" (1 Peter 3:15). One cannot make a defense (1 Peter 3:15), contend for the faith (Jude 3), defend the gospel (Philippians 1:16), or refute those who contradict sound doctrine (Titus 1:9) without being equipped. This is God's command to us no matter our situation or conversation and each one of us can do this with the effective use of reason. Join us for this study in apologetics to be equipped to follow God's command to firmly defend our Christian faith without condemning the hearer and to build up your faith and hope in Christ.
Cost for the book is $11. Class runs from September 6, 2023 to May 15, 2024 and is facilitated by Roger Smith.
Women's Bible Study: How to Read and Study the Bible for Yourself
Nothing else fuels our growth like personally engaging with the Bible. Yet many people lack the practical tools to confidently study the Bible for themselves. One can attend church for many years, and listen to a lot of teaching, and not learn how to read the Bible yourself. In this study, you will learn how to engage in your own personal devotions, get practical tools and easy methods on personal Bible Study, discover the golden rule on how to interpret the Bible, and ignite a new passion for the Bible and its power to bring about change in your life.
This is a 5-session series running from September 6, 2023 to October 4, 2023 and is facilitated by Sandy Walker. There is no cost for this study.
Bible Study: The Book of 1 Corinthians
Do you find it hard to get along with others in your life, even other Christians? How about remaining sexually pure or loving others more than you love yourself? If so, you are not alone. This is something we all struggle with from time to time, and it is nothing new.
In the book of 1 Corinthians, we find the Apostle Paul writing to the church in Corinth to deal with issues like these. His answer to them for their struggles is to see every part of life through the gospel. The reality, as Paul teaches it, is that because of the resurrection of Jesus, we have a reason for church unity, a motivation for sexual integrity, the power to love others more than ourselves, and a true victory over death.
Beginning on September 6th, we will open our Bibles and walk through this amazing and challenging book, verse by verse. Pastor Nathan and Darrell Akers will be leading the study. Feel free to join us every week or whenever possible.
