Children's Minister Position
Status: Full time, Salaried
General Position Description:
The Pastor of Children’s Ministries is responsible for the pastoring of
children and their families, and our community, through
the implementation of a ministry strategy that inspires wonder about God and builds a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.
Ministry Specific Responsibilities:
• Cast the vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God, not just learn about Him, in a relevant and relational way
• Develop a dynamic leadership team of staff and volunteers through providing resources and training and implementing appreciation strategies
• Write and create custom curriculum, including Sunday lessons and take-home activities
• Develop an active outreach ministry to preschoolers, elementary children and their families
• Facilitate our Wednesday night AWANA program
• Help lead other outreach programs like Upward Basketball
• Plan, organize, staff, and coordinate engaging summer programs for children (SMAK) (Summer Camp) (Field Trips)
• Collaborate with the Youth Minister to serve families by helping parents augment their parenting skills, and improve their relationship with their children
• Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children, including but not limited to effective use of check-in and check-out technology
• Plan and participate in parent/child dedication services and classes
• Supervise Children’s Ministry paid staff
• Facilitate the sharing of space, resources, and teaching materials by church and other ministries/departments
• Coordinate and staff nursery/preschool worship care and childcare during agreed upon church-wide events (Parents Night Out)
• Use effective modes of communication including emails, Facebook, Twitter, mailings, etc. designed to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities
Qualifications:
• Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close consistent walk with Him
• Embrace a vibrant vision for Children’s Ministry consistent with FBC’s mission statement
• Commit to and support the theological stance of FBC
• University graduate, preferably with a complimentary major to enhance ministry to children; Seminary education or equivalent experience and training in Christian Education, or experience in a related field
• Continue to study and grow in knowledge and practical ministry strategies
• Love kids and grant grace in discipline
• Demonstrate strong conflict management and public relation skills
• Demonstrate flexibility and calm under pressure in changing and/or emergency situations
