FIRST STEPS DIRECTOR
 
PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:
Supervise the overall operation of the First Steps program and its staff. The First Steps Director will be under the supervision of the Minister of Education/ Administration.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and provide direction for the day-to-day administrative operations of the
preschool.
Recruit, screen, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff.
Develop and maintain First Step Policies, Parent Handbook and Teacher Handbook.
Provide early childhood expertise and professional understanding of weekday programs to the 
Preschool Committee and provide guidance to Weekday Preschool Ministry Team.
Prepare and manage annual budget.
Maintain enrollment to assure adequate income to meet the First Steps budget.
Make periodic reports to the church.
Maintain communication with parents or caregivers of all children enrolled in First Steps.
Partner with the Preschool Coordinator in planning, securing, purchasing supplies, sharing

furnishings and coordinating use of the physical facilities or the Preschool Department.
Provide opportunities for on-going training of all First Steps teachers in child development, First 
Aid, CPR, and other pertinent subjects.
Schedule, prepare and administer weekly staff meetings for information sharing, planning and 
sharing prayer requests.
Keep families informed about ongoing programs and special events at First Baptist Church and 
encourage them to attend.
